Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

I just watched a pre-air pilot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and I can say that it is fucking good. The cast is great, and a few of them are from HBO, so that speaks to the calibre right off the bat. ALSO, Nate Corrdry (brother of Rob Corrdry, and also sometime anchor on the Daily Show) is a main character. Cool eh?!
The writing is top notch. It's a pitch-perfect commentary on the SAD state of affairs at Saturday Night Live, which essentially is the show within a show that makes up this series.
My main concern is how long it can last. And I do know that at some point it'll turn ass and then keep getting made for a year or two because it will be fabulously succesful and award winning and then the network will bleed it dry like it does so many other shows.
But, from the look of it, I'd say that's probably a number of years away, so it's good to be psyched for a new TV show, cause not many good shows are still on the air, except in syndication.
So I command you all to watch this show and fulfill it's destiny. Blow the competition off the airwaves. (Unless it's running opposite The Office. In that case, Tivo it, or download it from bittorrent or whatnot and let the it fend for itself.)

I saw the pilot for the show this evening. I'm notm sure if I'm West Winged out or not, but I thought that it wasn't as good as the West Wing, but I have a feeling that it'll get better as the show goes on. Love the dialog, but the actress that plays the new head honcho of the TV station seems really out of place. All the other actors seem to jive with Sorkin's dialogue.
I'll watch it next week.

On further revision, I think that the problem with the pilot is that they're trying to fit too much into the 40 minute pilot formate. Besides the characters played by Whitford and Perry, you really don't get a sense of the characters in the show. Compare this to the West Wing pilot where you get great intros for all the characters without missing a beat.
Nate Cordry's going to be a main character? Judging by his two seconds of screen time I find that pretty amazing.

If you followed the link, you would have seen that Nate Corrdry is in the cast photo as a lead actor. Also, he's been mentioned as such in magazine reviews of the series.

Unlike most of my friends, I didn't orgasm over the first episode of Studio 60. I thought it was good, but mostly for its potential. It showed lots of glimmers of greatness, but didn't quite come together.
I think Rob touched on the reason that I didn't go "squee" over it like I did the first episode of the West Wing: too much happened. Everything was about setting up the situation, while West Wing began by merely setting up the characters. There was very little plot in the West Wing pilot, so it could be all about the characters. Here, there was too much plot so you didn't quite get enough on Whitford, Perry, and Peet let alone any of the other cast.
Anyway, it's a definite must-watch for me. And no worry about it being opposite The Office (which I've never really managed to get into, despite all its praise). They are on the same network.
